Maroon Group - CASE & Plastics History
Addipel was founded in 2008 in Avon, Ohio to provide a value-add service to customers in the plastics industry. Initially, we focused on dry blending for customers that were looking for a supplier that has quick turnaround times, was willing to produce small batches, and would formulate based on their specific needs. Our business quickly developed to include 100% active non-dust blends and custom packaging. Customers realized the value of having a flexible, “quick to react,” entrepreneurial supplier.
Due to the expansion of our business, in 2013, we moved into our current headquarters and production facility in Avon Lake, Ohio. We continue to focus on our fundamentals as a service-oriented manufacturer of custom products. We manage our business by the metrics of consistent products, consistent delivery and consistent supply. Addipel became part of Maroon Group - CASE & Plastics in 2014.
In 2006, Jay and Bill Ward started CNX Distribution, a specialty chemical distribution company focusing on the CASE, Plastics, and Urethane markets. Twice recognized as a Texas A&M Aggie Top 100 Company for outstanding annual sales growth, CNX was acquired by Maroon Group in January 2016. CNX became part of Maroon Group - CASE & Plastics in 2016.
In 1954 D.B. Becker Co., Inc. was established as a Manufacturer's Representative working in the Paint and Coatings Market. It was not until 1990, when Dan Canavan acquired the business and began the conversion from Manufacturer's Representative to Distribution. This change allowed D.B. Becker to better service our customer via local stocking, quality product, and competitive pricing and placed the organization on a long term trajectory for success. With this transformation, D.B. Becker expanded more deeply into the Paint, Ink, Adhesive, Coating, Epoxy, Polyurethane, Construction, Plastic, Lubricant, Cosmetic and allied markets. This diversification provided a solid platform for growth that continued through into the 21st century.
D.B. Becker Co., Inc. reached its 60th Anniversary in 2014 and continues to operate out of the HQ, Clinton, NJ, facility where they moved in May, 2007. D.B. Becker became part of Maroon Group - CASE & Plastics in 2015.
Maroon was founded by Anthony P. Maroon in 1977 supplying resins, additives, pigments and packaging to customers in the paint & coatings, sealants & adhesives, and graphic arts industries. The company focused on providing value to its customers with a technical sales approach, a complementary product portfolio, and just-in-time inventory management serviced by a fleet of delivery trucks.
As their customer base and product portfolio continued to expand, the company broadened its geographic reach when it opened a sales office in Chicago in 1984. During this period, the company expanded into other industries as plastics became more prevalent in consumer packaging, construction, etc.
In 2002, the company began to undergo a transformation under the ownership of Mark E. Reichard and Mark Maroon. Global supplier relationships expanded and the company achieved NACD and ISO certifications. Over the next decade, Maroon refined its business model, strived to improve its level of service and expanded its sales team. In 2014, a partnership was established with CI Capital and the company was renamed Maroon Group LLC. Maroon became part of Maroon Group - CASE & Plastics in 2014.
